Principles and Applications of Polyester Fiber

Polyester fiber is a new anti cracking reinforcement material specially developed and produced for enhancing asphalt concrete. It is a bundle shaped synthetic fiber made of polyester synthetic material and processed by special technology. It has the advantages of high strength, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, strong chemical stability, and strong adhesion with asphalt. When added to asphalt concrete, it can form a three-dimensional distribution of a large number of fiber monofilaments after mixing, which plays a role in reinforcing and bridging, effectively improving the mechanical properties of asphalt mixture and preventing cracking of asphalt concrete.

Main principle:

It plays a reinforcing role, with polyester fibers randomly distributed and overlapping to form a network winding of the mixture, effectively overcoming the slip of aggregates and hindering the formation of cracks.

● It plays a role in adsorbing asphalt. Due to its large specific surface area, it can adsorb oil in asphalt, increasing its viscosity and adhesion.

● It has a stabilizing effect. Due to its strong high-temperature stability, the fiber can significantly prevent the flow of asphalt during high temperatures in summer, providing high-temperature stability to the asphalt.

● Increasing adhesion, improving bonding strength, enhancing the adhesion between asphalt and mineral materials, and improving the bonding strength between aggregates through the adhesion of oil film.

● Plays a role in toughening and crack resistance, as polyester fibers have high modulus values and strong tensile strength, with effective stress distribution and crack resistance, which can effectively prevent low-temperature brittle cracking.
