What material is polypropylene fiber
Polypropylene fiber is a synthetic fiber mainly made of polypropylene through a unique process, forming a high-strength polypropylene bundle like monofilament fiber. The unique production process of polypropylene fibers usually involves heating PP particles to a molten state, and then placing the melted PP material and screw rod together into a spinning machine. The material is then pushed out of the spinning machine and enters three stages: lifting machine, shaping machine, winding machine, second shaping machine, and fiber shaping machine. Finally, it is cut by a cutting machine to obtain polypropylene fibers.
Performance and Application of Polypropylene Fiber:
Polypropylene fiber has excellent properties and can be used in many fields, such as making down jackets, safety nets, or in the medical and health field. But today we mainly understand the properties and uses of polypropylene fibers in concrete.
1. Polypropylene fibers can transfer stress inside concrete and withstand the stress caused by substrate shrinkage.
2. Polypropylene fibers are evenly mixed in concrete mortar, and they are distributed in a three-dimensional random pattern with small average spacing and high density. They can effectively increase the ability of concrete to resist shrinkage, deformation, and cracking.
3. Polypropylene fibers can improve the water retention performance of concrete, not only reducing surface water evaporation, but also inhibiting particle sinking in concrete mortar, reducing capillary channels formed by water overflow, and achieving the effect of delaying crack formation and controlling crack development.
